Blackboard Support and Resources

Blackboard Course sites can be accessed immediately at http://blackboard.philau.edu.

Your username and password is the same as you use for WebAdvisor and e-mail. Please note that passwords expire every 90 days, and the Blackboard site provides no advance warning. Click "Forgot Your Password?" at the login page to reset your password as needed.

DO I HAVE ALL MY COURSES AND COURSE CONTENT? ARE THE STUDENTS ENROLLED AS WELL?

Any teaching assignments, as well as enrollments for courses (adds and drops) are automatically reflected in Blackboard courses within 24 hours of the official assignment, exactly as viewed within WebAdvisor.

Please note that no content is copied and no courses are combined without your request. If you wish to have content imported from elsewhere, such as from previous semesters or from a course cartridge; or if you wish to combine multiple sections of a course, please reply or submit a request to the Technology Help Desk using the online form.

WHEN SHOULD I HAVE MY SYLLABUS POSTED? WHEN WILL STUDENTS HAVE ACCESS TO THE COURSE?

Blackboard course sites are set to become "available" (visible to students) one week prior to the start of each semester. This allows students to prepare for classes by providing access to posted syllabi, information about the course text and/or other materials, as well as contact information for the instructor(s) prior to the first day of class.

You can change the course availability and make the course visible or invisible to students at any time.

Simply click on Customization (under Control Panel) and open Properties. Go to the third section "Set Availability" to make this change.

HOW LONG WILL I HAVE ACCESS TO THESE COURSES?

The courses are made unavailable to students after Incomplete grades turn to F's at the Registrar's office. However, you as an instructor will have access to these course sites up to one year after the course has completed.
